I decided to take some better pictures of Layla’s Baby Nursery with my Singing all Dancing Nikon Camera. I have previously uploaded a post of Layla’s Baby Nursery, but I took the pictures using my Apple iPhone 4 and lets be honest the quality of those pictures doesn’t have a patch on a DSLR Camera.
So come on in…
Unfortunately Layla is the youngest child out of 3 and so has the Box room. Space is limited and I’ve had to keep this in mind and utilise everything to the best I could, so that we could gain maximum storage and usability.
Both the boys have they own Bedroom Door Name Plaque so its only right Layla got her own too. This Plaque is the inspiration I used to create her nursery. The polka dot pink and white reminded me of Cath Kidston Fabrics, the background is the same colour that I painted her feature wall and of course any Princess’s bedroom wouldn’t be complete without Butterflies.
Ever since we found out Layla was indeed A Girl on a 4D Scan I had when 21weeks Pregnant, she has always been referred to as Princess Layla. So whilst out shopping one day I came across this! and you know when something from a shelf just screams at you like; “Take me HOME!”? Your obliged to do so… and so obviously I did. I have also used Floating shelves above her Chest of Drawers to give some extra storage, which currently just has Her Baby Memory Box and a Photo of me and Layla from a Photo Shoot we had done at Mothercare.
The Cotbed is by Mamas & Papas and we bought it Pre-Loved, but it was Pine. I really don’t like pine, im more of a Oak type of girl. So I sprayed it Antique white. The Bedding I purchased after I seen my friends little girl had it, having 2 boys before Layla im use to all things blue with cars etc on. So I had no idea what to go with, im really glad I went with the Bruin range from Toys R us called Hugs & Kisses. We also have the matching curtains, changing mat, fleece blanket, doll and baby on board sign. No Princess’s bed would be complete without a net drape, im currently crocheting lots of pink butterflies to stitch onto her netting to tie into the theme.
Due to her room being so small, all her clothes have had to go inside Chest Of Drawers, Top draw has all her socks, vests and babygrows in, second has tops, cardigans and coats, third has trousers and shoes and the fourth has her nappies, wipes and toiletries. It works well whilst her clothes are still miniature, but once she grows she may have to share with her brothers or I suppose we could get a skinnish wardrobe in place of the drawers?
Heres something else that was jumping off the shelves in Mamas & Papas and telling me to take it home!. We did at first use this made with love activity spiral toy on her baby carseat as it makes a nice little jingle sound when moved. Now shes in her big girl Carseat, it now curls around her cot rail and every morning I can hear Layla making it jingle.
Ive always bought fabric and stored it in my Stash for one day to hopefully use it. What better way to make good use of my Cath Kidston stash? I made Layla a Name Bunting. I cut out some triangles, fabric glued letters on to form her name and sewed them all together using pink bias binding tape. So cheap and easy to make, matches in well with her nursery and its even more special because Mummy made it.
These 3 little wall canvas’s my mum bought from Primark!… There small but perfect size for her small room and there match in PERFECT, My mum did good.
No nursery is complete without a soft low light Lamp, this one we found in Ikea and due to the thick white plastic shade it gives off very soft dimmed lighting. Which of course is perfect for Nurseries as you don’t want a bright light to startle baby, but of course you need something that’s bright enough to be able to check on them. It was a little plain just being totally white, so I ordered some stick on butterflies from a Ebay seller, which instantly makes it more acceptable in the theme.
Ive often seen Vinyl wall decal stickers on ebay, facebook etc and so I decided to get Layla one as I just had a empty wall and I didn’t want something too permanent as she will grow and she wont always be a baby. This seemed the perfect solution and it took literally minutes to apply. It will come off so when she does grow and then needs a toddler room, we can remove this and replace with something else.
