I turned my Mummy into a MOMBIE!

I love my little Layla Lots!!!… but this is one tired Zombiefied (is that even a word lol) Mummy. I feel like I’m slowly losing the plot day by day, I keep forgetting things, I even went to go out the door on a school run this afternoon without realising I had no shoes on haha (really wasn’t one of my finest moments!) and why? Because my Little Layla has grown to dislike that beautiful thing us tired parents crave SLEEP. She has even cut out 1 of her naps during the day, she did use to have 2 :/

Its not as if Me and Lee can take turns during the night, becauseΒ she’s breastfed… I did try to express some milk just so Lee could maybes do 1 night, but that didn’t work out to well as I got an infection and that in turn kept me up all night, OUCH.

last night was just blurghhh got her into bed, ran the bath… my big toe touched the top of the bubbles and she woke up!!! Arghh… so fed her, put her down… Lee came to bed after he finished work (he works from home) and she woke up :(…. So fed her again, by this time its getting close to 1am and I just sat and cried. No idea where it came from, but I think it just needed to be done!!! I guess that’s what happens after 9 months of sleepless nights. So I made the decision to put Layla in her cot awake and put her toy on which lights up the ceiling and plays a tune.

She hated it! and she screamed, cried and of course I cried with her. I felt totally helpless, cruel, guilty… But I felt something had to give. Then all of a sudden she stopped!, I poked my head round her bedroom door and she’s spread eagled in her cot fast asleep! :O and she woke up at 4:55am!!! OMG I actually had more than 1 hour of uninterrupted sleep.

So roll round to tonight… We did our same routine, I carried her up to bed wide awake and sang a made up song haha and sang it to her whilst going up the stairs and laid her in her cot, covered her over… stroked her face and I didn’t get a single murmur from her!!! Im in shock im utterly speechless. But feel relieved that she was able to settle herself and feeling slightly better emotionally.

Ooooo dear I spoke too soon lol x

Oh you poor thing you must be exhausted! We went down the slightly controversial Ferber method with Monkey’s sleep, the cry and wait method. I know it’s not for everyone and it wasn’t we wanted to do either at first, but it really worked. We read the book thoroughly, to make sure we did it right and prepared ourselves to feel like horrible parents. The first night he cried for ages, the second a lot less, the third hardly at all and then never from that point on so we have had full night’s sleep since he was 4 months old (apart from the odd night of poorliness or bad dreams.) Not sure if we will do it with number 2 we will just see how it goes I guess. I hope you find something that works for you and that she learns to settle herself for longer soon! #pocolo

I remember that feeling so well! There’s loads of info about the method here http://noobmommy.com/2008/11/to-ferberize-or-not-to-ferberize.html but I liked having the book as he explained it in a really good way. Good luck with however you proceed and hope you feel less like a Mombie soon! xx

I can completely relate! I now have a 29 month old and 8 month old and feel like a zombie constantly – looking forward to when Little Man finally sleeps a bit longer and doesn’t wake as often for night feeds! x #PoCoLo

I don’t even expect to sleep well anymore! My toddler is 2, and I remember being utterly sleep deprived when he was 9 months old. I don’t remember how I survived…hang in there!

Oh I’m right there with you! Last week my fairly decent sleeper turned into an all nighter kind of baby. I’d say I can’t wait till she gets older…but I know better;)
