Picked up some little bits and bobs from my local craft shop today. I didnt need them and nor did i have a Project in mind, but there were a bargain and well who doesnt love a bargain??? So i knew i would eventually use them and put them to good use. On the way home i was racking my brains as to what i could create with my new bits and bobs and decided it was a MUST! that i make my Unborn Daughter a nice Pink flower ribbon that magnets onto her Carseat Hood… So Ta Daaaaaaaa and here is how i did it:
Heres the things that you will need:
5x 1″ width 4″ length Grosgrain Ribbon
1x 16mm x 30cms Black Grosgrain Ribbon
Feathers (optional: I didnt end up using them)
Needle and Thread
Cut your Ribbon into 4″ lengths 5 Times.
Thread your needle with matching colour thread. Fold over your ribbon and press down on the fold to create a crease in the ribbon, Fold the ribbon out and with your Needle go up and through the very edge dot on in the middle and go through and out on the opposite side again in the middle of the ribbon.
Tie your thread together tightly so that the 2 edges of the ribbon meet up together. Make a few knots in the thread to make sure its secure. DO NOT snip off your thread just yet.
Fold the ribbon over with the flat edges touching each other and press down on the pointy end to create creases.
Firmly hold your ribbon together at the pointy triangle end and fold back one edge of your ribbon. Thread your needle through the ribbon as close to where you first joined the ribbon together, thread it through and then back through the ribbon.
Knot the threads together tightly and secure with a few Knots. Now you can snip off your loose threads.
Heres how the thread will look on the the back of the ribbon ONLY!.
Repeat the process for all 5 ribbons.
With your needle and thread go through the ribbon as shown in the picture, making sure that the stitch you just created is on the back.
Repeat the process for all 5 ribbons and join them together as shown.
Make sure you tie a big knot at the end of your thread, so that the petals/ribbons dont fall off.
Flip over the petals, so now your looking at the back of the petals, start to gather up your petals by pulling tight your thread
Keep gathering up all the petals and pulling your thread tight.
Feed your needle back through the first petal into the same pattern as when you first threaded the petals.
Make sure the petals are gathered together as tightly as you can possibly get them and secure them together by making some slip knots into the back of the petals.
Flip over your petals/Flower this is now the right side up.
Attach your button to the centre.
Attach your magnets to the Black ribbon, by folding over the edge and stitching all the way around the edges, then secure one end to the back of the flower.
